VIP – Putting the Environment First
VIP Bin Cleaning is committed to minimising the environmental impact of our cleaning operations and our products through the adoption of sustainable practices and continuous improvement in environmental performance.
The principles by which we implement our policy are:
To meet the requirements of relevant legislation in the countries and regions in which we operate.
To implement effective environmental management systems and to ensure the environmental awareness of our personnel, encouraging every franchisee and master licence holder to act in an environmentally responsible manner.
To improve the environmental performance of our processes and products through research and development of new technologies, preventing and reducing emissions and releases, minimising waste and controlling noise.
To promote the recycling and reuse of our water which is consistently disposed of into the main sewerage system, bypassing the storm drainage system, therefore preventing pollution into our waterways. We work with our customers to understand the environmental effects of our products throughout their life cycle.
To ensure our personnel use biodegradable cleaning products with the recycled water when cleaning wheelie bins from the mobile cleaning unit. The drying of the bins is not only aesthetically pleasing but also prevents germs / insects breeding in water.
To contribute to sustainable development by using energy, water and raw materials efficiently, thus optimising our use of natural resources.
Suppliers & contractors
To encourage suppliers and contractors to represent VIP Bin Cleaning in a responsible manner and to maintain sound environmental practices.
To respond to the concerns of local communities and other interested parties on environmental issues and to respect the general environment and wildlife habitats in and around our work areas.
VIP Bin Cleaning is a valuable part of the strategy known as Integrated Pest Management. IPM programs reduce the reliance on pesticides as the primary control method for insects and rodents. By cleaning recycle and garbage carts, totes and bins, the pest's breeding sites, and potential for spreading disease is significantly reduced.
Health & Safety Assurance
In order to assure that VIP Bin Cleaning staff performs their duties in a safe manner we set up relevant safety protocols and a monitoring system. As many of our cleaning activities occur in heavy traffic situations safe work practices must be followed to avoid motor vehicle accidents and personal injuries.
THE GREEN ORGANISATION
In 1998 and 1999, VIP was the first company of its kind to win two national awards for Best Environmental Practice in Europe from the Green Organisation, supported by The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.
